'Objects'- Image Analysis

I have started looking at objects which interest me, and have caught my eye. Recently we have  had lectures on trade and culture, the consumer etc which have really interested me and made me start to think about my object, image analysis.I have started to generate some ideas by  going to museums looking for inspiration!
Louis-simon boizot (1743-1809)

This is a  really interested image for me because of the cultural and historic value behind it. This piece was created by a french artist, at the time in France at around 1794 there were votes going on whether not to abolish slavery in its colonies, artists were hugely inspires on the theme of equality and of European and African origins, you can see that the two children in the composition are of different races.

Traditional national costume from Greenland

This image was taken from google, its a picture of the national dress code traditionally in Greenland, today this is only used for special occasions, for example Christmas, Easter and birthdays. I chose to look at these vibrant heavily patterned garments because I love that they have a history behind them and that they represent something and show real meaning, where as today a lot of clothing is just mass produced, loosing there meaning and how we value the product.

These two objects below have really inspired me,because the material and perpose behind it.I think that I will be writing my object analysis based around them.

Democratic Republic of congo

The Royal Courts of the Kuba peoples, living in the Kasai region of the southern Congo basin, employed a complex hierarchy of official. Awide range of string fibre hats and metal hat pinswith differentattatchments helps to definetheir status.
The hat surmounnted by a tuft orraffia string can onlybe wornby the two offials who are second only in status to the nyim(king) of the bushoong, which is the ruling clam of Kuba.

Global cultures

I have always had a fascination for different cultures and the fashion behind them. I will be addressing Traditional, current, functional and practical fashion and the processes and structures behind it, resourcefulness in the approach and how place and environment reflects the material they have used.
I will be exploring the unique qualities of different countries craft and design, which symbolise there country and portrays there culture through it, in extremely different ways.  I will be looking at the huge contrast globally through different countries. Meaning of the garments and what they symbolise, I would like to explore ceremonious dress and the special attires for different occasions, as well as every day wear. So far I have looked at how they dress and the current change of dress now in countries such as Africa, Asia, Greenland. I think when looking at fashion, status  is an important topic, in traditional time and present the clothing of a royal person would be a huge contrast to the general public of that country. I will be taking into consideration patterns and colouring, the cut of the garments, and materials. How people identify and what they identify in different fashions and why that is.
